• But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Mathew 6:33

This post has been on my heart for some time. As the World continues to try and navigate through these times that we are in, so do many in the body of Christ continue to see and hear with earthly eyes and ears. Many believers continue their daily lives in a slumber not realising that the time is at hand.

I know this message isn’t popular, to seek God’s kingdom and righteousness, but it is a necessary one. Christians continue to consume what the world consumes. ‘The lusts of the flesh and the pride of life.’ Living as those that aren’t saved. Seeking after the world rather than storing up treasures in heaven. Many believers are not concerned about their eternal salvation or pleasing the Lord. They see no issue in this which is concerning.

Holiness matters to God

As believers we should be concerned about holiness and righteousness because it matters to God. God is looking for those who seek first the kingdom of God and righteousness now. Those who delight in His ways, His commandments. Who long for every thing which is good, holy and just. We often hear people talk about how great heaven will be and I feel perplexed. For if you don’t seek His holiness and righteousness here on earth, what makes you think you will like Heaven? Heaven is going to be a place where no sin exists. It will be a place of purity, holiness, and righteousness.

  • Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Do the things we consume glorify the things in this verse above?

We are the bride of Christ. We are supposed to be preparing for our bridegroom. How can we continue through our days without thought of what matters to our Lord and Saviour? Are we guarding our hearts and minds against the filth pollution of the World? I know I am greatly convicted at this time.

We no longer walk according to the course of this world

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,  in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. Ephesians 2:1-3

Some questions to ask ourselves:

Am I spending my time on establishing His Kingdom here on earth?

Am I putting off all of those things which are not of God? Those things which glorify sin?

Do I seek to follow in the little things as well as the bigger things?

Does my heart seek to please the Lord in all I do? Or am I seeking to please myself?

Am I being a faithful servant with the things or people the Lord has entrusted me?

Am I in constant prayer and communion with the Lord Jesus as I go about my day?

Am I giving of myself wholeheartedly as unto the Lord? Caring for my family and household?

Remember we are told to abstain from all appearance of evil.

Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:22

I could give you a list of do’s and dont’s for things to avoid but if you are seeking the Lord with all of your heart and living for Him, then you will clearly see what is not of Him. But we must be in the Word daily, in prayer and devotion. When we are close to the Lord, these worthless pursuits just fall away. We see them for what they really are. Let’s teach our children how important it is to seek God and His Kingdom through our own lives.

This post is not to be a burden to you, but to fill you with Hope and Joy, for when we pursue His Kingdom and righteousness we will find our true purpose. Life will be meaningful and we will be full of expectation for our King to return for His bride. Will we be ready?
