There are SO many reasons to simplify your life, both your physical possessions as well as your busy schedule and then let’s not forget the mental clutter. As a believer in Christ, I want to seek the Lord daily and follow His ways. The problem is that distractions easily creep in and I find myself burderned by the things of this world. I know I need to Simplify.
I wrote this short list from the perspective of being a believer and how it has helped me in my walk with Christ and how it can help you in yours. Hopefully you will be inspired to create your own list for reasons to simplify your life.
- Time- Owning and maintaining less stuff leads to more time. More time to study the Word, pray, hospitality and all of the things that really matter to me.
- Focus- With less stuff to care about, fewer commitments, basically less busyness, I am able to stay more focused on again what matters. I find that busyness is one of the enemy’s tools to distract us from our purpose in serving God.
- Energy- This is obvious, with less to maintain and worry about I now have more energy for, you guessed it! The things that matter such as my faith and purposes.
- Kingdom mentality- When I hold things lightly on this earth, I am then able to have an eternal focus. None of this stuff or treasure on earth will last and so why waste my time on it now?
- Love-I am now freed up to love God and love others not stuff. Now that’s freedom.
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
